The Records Management Division (RMD) of City Archives and Records Office conducted series of Records Inventory and Appraisal (RIA) consultations to determine the knowledge and appreciation of Records Officers and Custodians on the importance of records inventory and appraisal.

RIA consultations were scheduled from March 23 to 29, 2022 and participated in by 48 Records Officers and Custodians from 28 city departments/offices held at the Conference Room, City Archives and Records Office, Ecoland, this City.

The activity started with a discussion on the challenges encountered in the preparation of their RIA last year followed by a brief discussion on National Archives of the Philippines’(NAP) General Disposition Schedule of 2009 and 2011 then later progressed to the reorientation on the basic steps in records inventory, categorization of records, and proper filling out of the CARO Form No. 1 (Records Inventory and Appraisal Form).

It is indeed a learning and worthwhile activity. It serves as an avenue where records management concerns and issues were openly discussed which leads to identifying better solutions/alternatives. CARO-RMD is planning to continue this endeavor as we recognize the ROs and RCs are our partners in ensuring that the City’s records and archives are effectively and efficiently managed.
